Torii provides a contract import tool to import all your contracts from a CSV/Excel file.

You can use this feature both to perform a first time bulk upload of contracts into Torii as well as for ongoing updates.

In order to successfully import a file containing multiple contracts into Torii, please make sure you complete the following prerequisites:

  1. The first row acts as the headers for each column

  2. The header row must include these 3 mandatory headers (Contract name, Application name, Status)

  3. The Application name column value must match the application name as appears in Torii

  4. Each contract should be in a different row, one row per contract

  5. Custom applications should be created in Torii first in order to match them (Torii will not create custom application during the import process)

  6. The Status value must match any of the application statuses as defined in Contract Details

  7. All column must exactly match the contract fields as defined in Contract Details

  8. For any single-select field, the value must match one of the defined single-select field values

  9. multi-select fields can be updated using comma-separated values within the same Excel/CSV field. E.g. value1, value2, value3. Those must exactly match the defined values of that same field.

  10. employee fields should contain a valid email address in one of these two formats: or Tony Stark <>

  11. Credit card numbers - Torii only stores the last 4 digits for the card number. If you'd like import card numbers, only include the last 4 digits.

  12. All dates must conform to the same date format. You will be asked to define the date format during the import.

Importing Contracts

  • Navigate to Renewals page

  • On the top right corner, click the Import Contracts button

  • Select the date format for cells including dates

  • Click browse or drag your file into the import dialog box

  • Review the number of contracts to be added and updated

  • Click Import to confirm the import

Handling Errors

Torii will do its best effort to import the data, even of the file contains some invalid fields.

This means that Torii will skip any contracts it has failed to parse.

For example, if a row in the import file doesn't match any of Torii's applications by exact name, this row will be skipped.

Missing Dates When Importing

If the dates are blanks when importing a contracts file, this usually indicates that the date format you picked does not match the dates format in the CSV file.

When you open a CSV file in Microsoft Excel, the displayed date format might not be the same as the underlying CSV file. Then, when you import this file into Torii, you might not pick the correct date format.

We suggest that either you use Excel CSV import wizard or follow the steps below to pick the right date format in Excel:

  1. Open your file in Microsoft Excel

  2. Right-click the columns containing dates

  3. Select Format cells

  4. Click Date under Number >> Category

  5. Select the correct formatting. E.g. MM/DD/YYYY format

  6. Make sure you select a date format without an asterisk (*). Date formats without an asterisk are not affected by the operating system settings.

  7. Save the file as Excel file format

Frequency Asked Questions

  • Does the import file needs to contain all contracts column fields?
No. The only 3 mandatory columns are Contract name, Application name, Status

  • What will happen if one of the mandatory fields are missing?
The specific row in the import file will be ignored.

  • Will the import override my existing contracts?
Yes, if a row has the same Contract name and Application name values will overwrite the data in Torii.
Empty cells in the import file will delete the contract field value in Torii.

  • Will the import delete any contracts?
No, the import only creates new contract and update existing ones.

  • What if my file contains custom applications?
Custom applications will be matched if they were already added to Torii.

  • Can I upload documents during the import?
No. Documents cannot be bulk uploaded at the moment.

  • Why were not all rows/contracts in the file imported?
Rows that Torii have failed to parse will be skipped. The import dialog box will note how many contracts were updated and added out of the total number of rows in the file.
